First post on the Zanzibits BLOG... Finally :-)

Mambo vipi! Well, it took me some time to organise this blog, as I was so very busy with almost everything else... You know how it goes, when you are so busy that you forget your own important to do's. But not to worry! Thanks to Dre, the "Web 2.0"specialist par excellence, I am now up and running. Actually, I should say we, as my colleague and first teacher of the Zanzibits center will also post on this blog.

Anyways, my name, for those of you who don't know me yet, is Guy Mullens. I am the initiator of the Zanzibits Center of Film and Multimedia, a project which has been lurking in my brain for over a year.

To make a (very) long story short (yes, very long stories happen, in Africa), it all started out after I had written a short memorandum for the use of my Cyber Cafe in Paje (on the east coast of Zanizbar) to teach local kids about the use of computers, basic programs, email, internet, chatting, etc. After discussing the memorandum with my good friend Marie (stichting 4Kenya) she told me to contact the Butterfly Works ladies in Amsterdam, as they had seemingly successfully implemented such a project in Kenya. And the rest, well, that's history:

We talked, we clicked, we brainstormed, we planned, we wrote, we travelled, we wrote, brainstormed and planned some more and finally came up with the present business plan, which is the foundation of our Film and Multimedia center.

And for the rest, well, for the rest you will just have to wait and see. I will try to update this blog every day, giving some more background info on the project, as well as new developments, irritating issues (yes, that can happen, also here), comical anecdotes... in short, I will try to convey the passion I am experiencing with the setup of this project, in the same time trying to make you enthusiastic for our cause... because we need all the help we can get!

Spread the word, and see you tomorrow, kwa sababu nataka kulala, sasa.

Tutaonana.

Guy
